The theatrical rights of Rajinikanth-starrer "Kabali" for Southeast Asia's key regions have been acquired by Malik Streams Corporation. It will be released in a record number of screens in Indonesia and the news has been announced by Dato Abdul Malik, the owner of Malik Streams Corporation, on his Facebook page.
He wrote: "Another Effort & Achievement by Malik Streams Corporation Sdn Bhd !!! We are successfully releasing our Thalaivar, Superstar Rajinikanth's 159th Movie, 'Kabali' in more then 300 halls in Indonesia soon.. Its going to be the Largest Tamil movie screening in Indonesia!! [sic]"
He added, "Im proud that our Malaysia's tourism spots / destinations & our Malaysian Talents are going to be featured around the globe via the most waited film Kabali.‪#‎KABALI ‪#‎MSC ‪#‎TourismMalaysia ‪#‎Malaysialocalartist [sic]."
Generally, Tamil movies in Indonesia are not released in huge number of screens. But "Kabali" is setting a new benchmark by getting released in 300 cine halls The overall screen count of Southeast Asia will easily cross 500-mark.
Malik Streams Corporation is presently distributing Ilayathalapathy Vijay's recently released Tamil movie "Theri," which has been released in over 200 screens in the Southeast Asian countries.
It has to be noted that the major part of "Kabali" has been shot in Malaysia and this seems to be one of the factors that has made the distributor to plan for a big release.
On the other hand, the makers have reportedly decided to release the teaser of "Kabali" on May 1. It was supposed to release on April 14, but got delayed for some reasons. The Tamil movie, along with its Telugu version, is likely to hit the screens on June 3.
"Kabali" is an action-thriller, written and directed by Pa Ranjith. Kalaipuli S Dhanu has produced the movie, which has Radhika Apte in the female lead role.
