Come April, South Indian film industry will witness the clash of big movies at the box office. After Mahesh Babu's Bharat Ane Nenu and Allu Arjun's Naa Peru Surya, there is another superstar flick that has joined the race to cash in on the summer holiday season.
Well, it is none other than Rajinikanth's Kaala. Producer Dhanush announced his release plans on Sunday, February 11, by tweeting, "Mark the date !! #kaalaa #april27 the don of dons is back #Superstar #thalaivar. [sic]"
It means Rajinikanth's Kaala will be taking on Mahesh Babu's Bharat Ane Nenu and Allu Arjun's Naa Peru Surya at the box office. Earlier, Rajinikanth's 2.0 was planned to release on the said date, leaving the producers of the Telugu films fuming.
Bunny Vas had expressed his anguish on Facebook and wrote, "Tollywood has always respected and embraced cinema of other languages. But a bigger project like 2.0 changing its release dates has caused confusion among producers. All the Telugu movie producers whose films are releasing in the months of April and May are in discussion to avoid any competition among ourselves. However, this sudden announcement by the 2.0 team to release it in the month of April had created further confusion. At this juncture, we request the trade bodies to take a conscious call and arrive at an amicable solution."
It has to be seen how the producers from the Telugu films would now react over the latest development.
Rajinikanth's Kaala is a gangster movie set in Mumbai. It is a mega-budget movie which is written and directed by P Ranjith, while Rajini's son-in-law Dhanush has bankrolled the flick.
On the other hand, Allu Arjun-starrer Naa Peru Surya is an action movie, which has Arjun Sarja, Anu Emmanuel, Nadhiya, Sarath Kumar and others in the supporting cast. Whereas Mahesh Babu's Bharat Ane Nenu is a political thriller directed by Koratala Siva.
