Rajinikanth's hint to enter politics is being unwelcomed by people from his own industry. After Seeman and Kasturi, now his long-time friend Bharathiraja has made indirect attack on the superstar, who is busy with his upcoming film Kaala, in the manner many of his critics who have questioned him about his origin.
In a press meet organised to slam the state and central governments over the arrest of activist Thirumurugan Gandhi, Bharathiraja attacked Rajinikanth without mentioning his name. He is of the opinion that the non-Tamils can come to Tamil Nadu, do business and enter politics, but only the son of this land should lead the state.
The award-winning filmmaker sarcastically stated that people aspiring to enter politics should be aware of the real issues bothering the state or at least know the state's geography.
"They say that we don't have good leaders, hence they have to come and lead us. Let it be if we Tamils have no leadership, what are they going to do about it? If my wife has not conceived, who are you to come and father my child? You can ask for a share in anything, but, how can you demand a share in my land?" Chitramala website claims him as saying. Directors like Vetrimaaran, Ameer, Ram, Va Gowthamman, Bramma and Kamal Kannan were part of the press meet.
Rajinikanth had said recently that the system is corrupt and needs to be cleaned up. "God willing, if I ever decide to join politics I will do it for the welfare of people and not to make money," he had said in a fans' meeting. He had also stated that his present focus is acting. Yet political pundits strongly believed that the actor might be ready to finally taking a plunge in the months to come.
Bharathiraja and Rajinikanth may have been friends but the former hsa criticised him at times. Notably, he had slammed the superstar over his stand on Cauvery issue.
