Finally, there is some confirmation on Rajinikanth's "Endhiran 2". Writer Jeyamohan has admitted that Shankar and the superstar are coming together once again for the sequel to their 2010 blockbuster.
Jeyamohan has told The Times of India that the team is busy with the pre-production works of "Endhiran 2". He has also told the daily that the film will take off by the end of this year.
Jeyamohan has finished the scripting work. He says that "Endhiran 2" will be the continuation of the first instalment. Meanwhile, there are speculations that Deepika Padukone has been approached for the female lead role. After "Kochadaiiyaan", the Bengaluru babe is going to pair up with the superstar again in the upcoming Shankar directorial.
However, Jeyamohan has denied the rumours pertaining to others in the cast and adds that only Rajinikanth has been confirmed as of now. "Only Thalaivar is confirmed. We are yet to begin the casting for the rest of the actors," ToI quoted the writer as saying.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had romanced Rajinikanth in "Endhiran". With Jeyamohan saying that the latest film being the continuation of the first instalment, the rumours of the Bachchan bahu pairing up with Rajini have become stronger all of a sudden. It is also said that the latest project will feature a Mumbai-based actor in the role of a villain.
"Endhiran" was the biggest South Indian hit film at the box office till recently, until SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali" broke the record.
Like its first instalment, "Endhiran 2" will reportedly be made in multiple languages and dubbed in Hindi.
