Rajinikanth's "Kochadaiiyaan" has been officially confirmed to release on 12 December, which happens to be the superstar's birthday.
It was earlier reported that "Kochadaiiyaan" will be hitting the screens for Diwali, after which speculations were rife that the film would make it to theatres on 12 December. This release date has now been officially confirmed by the film's unit. The film will be released in different languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, English and Japanese.
"Kochadaiiyaan" is one of the most-awaited films of 2013, as superstar Rajinikanth is all set to be back on the silver screen after a three-year hiatus. A small teaser of the film was released on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi (9 September). The teaser took the internet by storm, receiving good response from the audience. It got over 10 lakh views in less than 30 hours of its online release.
With the launch of the teaser, expectations for the Rajini starrer have soared. The epic drama, directed by Soundarya Rajikanth Ashwin, is deemed as India's first 3D film to use motion-capturing techniques.
The film's music is composed by AR Rahman. A track from the film, crooned by SP Balasubramaniam, will be released on 7 October. Confirming the news, Soundarya tweeted, "#EngaePogudhoVaanam the single track from #Kochadaiiyaan sung by SPB, lyrics by @vairamuthu from 7th October! @arrahman sir .. Excited :)"
The audio and trailer of "Kochadaiiyaan" is also expected to be released soon.
"Kochadaiiyaan" is reportedly made on a budget of over ₹100 crore, as it involves a lot of visual effects. The film has Deepika Padukone as the female lead. The other cast members include Aadhi, Jackie Shroff, Sarath Kumar, Nassar and Shobana among others.
