Director A.R.Murugadoss is over the moon not only because his latest film "Thuppakki" had a great opening but also because superstar Rajinikanth has praised his film to the heavens.
Tamil film "Thuppakki" was released at over 2,000 acreens worldwide on Tuesday (Diwali) along with "Podaa Podi" starring Silambarasan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.
"Our thalaivar RAJINI sir called me.. and said "I have seen the film twice now. Fantastic job and a brilliant film" :-) :-) Super Happy...!" an excited director Murugadoss tweeted.
"Thuppakki" is an action thriller featuring Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles and produced by Kalaipuli S. Dhanu.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh had earlier tweeted that "Thuppakki" did well overseas in spite of stiff competition from "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" and "Son Of Sardaar", collecting Rs 17.99 lakhs (A$ 31,567) from five locations in Australia in the first two days and Rs 48.66 lakh (£ 55,856) from 23 locations in the U.K.
It is reported "Thuppakki" had a great opening in Tamil Nadu with theatres running to full houses. A few websites even claimed that the film enjoyed 100 percent occupancy in most of the theatres in Tamil Nadu and did even better than Shah Rukh Khan's much-hyped, "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" which was released the same day.
"#Thuppakki - Diwali Release day - Nets an astonishing Rs 9.25 Crore approximately from TN. Extraordinary!" tweeted entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai.
The total collection of the film could swell up if the revenues from all the 2,000 screens worldwide are added.
The official domestic box office report of "Thuppakki" is not out yet.
