The latest rumour mills suggest that superstar Rajinikanth will share screen space with Telugu star Mahesh Babu. However, both the actors have not yet come up with a confirmation regarding this.
Telugu producer U Sathyanarayana Babu had met Rajinikanth at the Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad while the latter was shooting for his latest flick "Lingaa".
Reports are that Rajini had agreed to do a film with Mahesh, which will be produced by Sathyanarayana, who is also Mahesh's uncle.
"Rajini agreed, and he said that once his two-film commitment with Eros was over, he would start the shoot," said Sathyanarayana to Deccan Chronicle.
"Before we met Rajini, I asked Mahesh Babu if he was okay with this. Mahesh said yes," added producer Kethireddy who arranged the meeting between Rajinikanth and Sathyanarayana.
Rajinikanth has earlier done films with Mahesh's father and superstar Krishna. They have worked together for Telugu super hit films like "Ram Robert Rahim" (1980), which was the remake of the Hindi film "Amar Akbar Anthony" and "Annadammula Savaal" (1978), which was the remake of the Kannada film "Sahodarara Savaal".
Moreover, Satyanarayana has previously produced Rajinikanth and Krishna's films and maintains a great rapport with them.
Earlier, there were many reports of a film, which will star Rajinikanth and Ram Charan but nothing about it is materialised yet.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth has just wrapped the shooting of "Lingaa" and its post production process is underway. The film also has Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead. "Lingaa" is the most awaited film of the year and is directed by K. S. Ravikumar.
Meanwhile, Mahesh is getting ready to start the shooting of an untitled film, directed by Koratala Siva, which has Shruthi Hassan in the female lead role.
If reports are to be believed, then the new Rajini-Mahesh film will become a reality only by 2016 as both stars are busy with their prior commitments.
