Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and many stars from Bollywood will be a part of a cricket tournament to be organised by the South Indian Film Artistes Association (SIFAA), which is popularly known as Nadigar Sangam. The matches will be played April 17 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
Speaking to The Times of India, Nassar, the President of SIFAA, said that Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have confirmed their participation. Apart from the two iconic actors, the artistes' guild has also invited other South actors settled in Bollywood.
Meanwhile, Nassar and other members from the association met Chennai city police commissioner TK Rajendran Wednesday, March 16, seeking security for the match.
About 50 artistes will participate in the event, consisting of seven teams. The tournament titled Super Six Star Cricket is being organised to raise funds to construct a building for the Nadigar Sangam.
It will be six-over matches played from morning to night.
"Right now, we have Rs.48 lakh in cash and we have borrowed Rs.2 crore from the bank. To raise more funds to complete the building, we are conducting this celebrity cricket match. The entire Tamil film fraternity will come together for this initiative and the event will be attended by Rajini sir and Kamal sir," a source from the association had earlier told the Hindu.
This is the first major event organised by Nassar's administration after coming to power in October 2015.
