Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, who acted together in many films during their initial years in the film industry, have not collaborated for a project in the last few decades. The Tamil audience have been waiting to see the two big names of the present generation sharing screen space, and the duo might finally fulfil their wishes and join hands for an upcoming project.
However, the two actors will not be seen in a film. Instead, they are likely to join hands for a play.
Actor Nassar has plans to stage historical novel "Ponniyin Selvan" abroad and the two stars will play prominent roles in it, reports IndiaGltz. It is noted that Kalki Krishnamurthy's work is Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth's favourite. In the past, the actors had expressed an interest in acting on stage and their wish might come true with this play.
The play too will contribute towards raising funds for the construction of the building of Nadigar Sangam. This is the second big idea by the actors' guild to generate money, after planning celebrity cricket tournament to be held April 17.
Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have earlier worked together in many films including "Apoorva Raagangal," "Moondru Mudichu," "Anthuleni Katha," "Aval Appadithaan," "Ilamai Oonjal Aadukirathu," "Thappitha Thala," "Thayillamal Nannilai," "Ninaithale Inikkum," "Natchatiram" and "Alavuddinum Athbutha Vilakkum."
The last time they worked together was 30 years ago and they had mutually agreed not to work in films together for multiple reasons. While there are less chances of them joining hands again for a movie according to Kamal Haasan -- he recently told the media that it becomes difficult for a producer to make a film with them due to budget constraints -- the play might bring them together once again.
