It seems that superstar Rajinikanth is very much impressed with Jr NTR's Telugu film "Baadshah".
Rajini is known to keep tabs on latest films from the industry. The actor is reportedly impressed with NTR's "Baadshah", an action entertainer that has the ingredients needed for a commercial film.
It has to be noted that Rajini did a Tamil film "Baadshah" in the 90s. The film still remains as one of the best films in his career. However, there is no connection between the Tamil and the Telugu versions, except for the fact that both Rajini and NTR played two different characters in their respective films.
Rajini played an underworld don and an auto rickshaw driver in his film. On the other hand, Jr NTR's latest release is about a young man who seeks revenge for the death of his foster brother in a bomb blast. Jr NTR plays Rama Rao and Baadshah in the film.
"Baadshah" has one more Tamil connection. Little Superstar Simbu has crooned for the film, which had music by S Thaman.
The film, which was released on 5 April, received huge response from moviegoers in India as well as overseas. The film reportedly fetched more than ₹40 crore at the box office.
The superstar is said to have called the makers of the film and appreciated their work. The actor also reportedly asked them to remake the film in Tamil, according to a leading daily.
Earlier there were reports that Rajini was in talks with the makers to get the remake rights for his son-in-law, actor Dhanush. However, there is no official word on it.
Some reports had suggested that south star Vijay would be part of the remake in Tamil. But, the actor has denied doing the film. He is currently busy completing "Thalaivaa", after which he will begin shooting for "Jilla" with Kajal Aggarwal.
