Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has applauded Atharvaa's "Kanithan," which is all set to hit the screens worldwide Friday, Feb. 26. The Kollywood film, featuring Catherine Tresa in the female lead, has been written and directed by TN Santhosh.
Speaking to iFlicks, excited director TN Santhosh revealed Rajinikanth saw "Kanithan" recently and had good words about the movie, Atharvaa and him. Producer Kalaipuli S Dhanu, who is also producing the superstar's next movie "Kabali," had organised a private show for the actor at his residence.
TN Santhosh claims Rajinikanth watched "Kanithan" without breaks and spoke about the Tamil movie for about half an hour after watching it.
"About me, Rajini sir said it didn't feel like a first-timer's film. These are big words from him, when all I want is to just hear him say my name. On Atharvaa, Rajini sir said it felt like seeing someone like Vijay on screen, as he brought out such an effect," the director told the website.
The good words by Rajinikanth have come as a boost for "Kanithan." However, the appreciation has not come as a surprise as he is known for encouraging good films. It may be recalled that he had recently lauded Vetrimaaran's "Visaranai." Now, the makers hope the film will manage to win the hearts of the audience as well.
"Kanithan," which has got 30 percent Entertainment Tax exemption from the state government, has Tarun Arora, K Bhagyaraj, Manonala, Karunakaran, YG Mahendra and others in supporting roles. It has Sivamani's music, Arvind Krishna's cinematography and Bhuvan Srinivasan's editing.
