A few days after team Kaabil announced that their film will release on January 25, a day ahead of what was planned earlier, makers of Raees thought it wise to shift their's too to the same date. This decision has left producer Rakesh Roshan upset; he believes it will impact the box office collections of both the films.
Roshan strongly believes that a film, if really appreciated and loved by the audience, will earn Rs. 300 crore or a little more than that at the ticket window adding that the box offiice earnings of Raees and Kaabil will not be in the ratio Rs. 225 crore: Rs 75 crore.
Talking to DNA, the actor-director-producer explained how wanting to arrive in theatres on the same date is not going to help Raees one bit. The crime-thriller would earn much better if it had been scheduled to be released solo.
"The film might have done 300 crore business had it come solo because I have heard great stuff about the film from industry sources. But the clash will not allow his film or my film to cross the desired mark," Roshan told DNA.
Even though the clash has disappointed Roshan, he told the daily his personal equation with Khan can never turn sour. He said the 51-year-old actor is his family friend and that he loves him dearly.
"He also loves and respects me. Nothing in the world can change that. Forget this clash, nothing can sour our relationship. Like the Godfather says, it's never personal. It's just business. Likewise, SRK has been my actor and my friend and that won't change," Roshan further elaborated.
In other news, Raees is sort of ahead of Kaabil in terms of pre-release buzz. Kaabil trailer, although gritty, didn't really take the internet by storm. Whereas Khan's menacing avatar in Raees has been met with a positive response; the trailer has garnered over 21 million hits on YouTube and Facebook in less than 24 hours.
