Multi-starrer action thriller "Race 2" dominated the ticket collection window in the second week of its release. Despite six new other movies this week, including controversial film "Vishwaroopam", the Saif Ali Khan starrer continued to be the first choice of movie goers.
The Abbas-Mustan-directed film raked in ₹20.25 crore in its second week so far. It managed to earn ₹15.5 crore in the second weekend with ₹2.5 crore and ₹2.25 on respective weekdays.
The second week 5-day breakup of the film is: Friday ₹3.5 crore, Saturday ₹5.5 crore, Sunday ₹6.5 crore, Monday ₹2.5 crore and Tuesday ₹2.25 crore.
The total collection of the film totalled to ₹96.35 crore in India. The film needs approximately ₹3.65 crore to surpass the ₹100 crore mark at domestic box offices.
With its steady pace in collections, "Race 2" is expected to gross ₹100 crores in its second week itself.
Apart from Saif, the film also features Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel in leading roles.
The action thriller, which is a second installment to 2008 film "Race", is also performing well at overseas box offices. The film's total after second weekend stands at approximately ₹28.71 crores ($ 5.4 million) internationally.
The business of the film might decline in its third week after the release of Neeraj Pandey's heist thriller "Special Chabbis", which stars Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher and Kajal Agrawal in the lead roles and Remo D'Souza's 3D dance film "ABCD".
