Vikram Bhatt's directorial movie "Raaz 3" has spelled its 'black magic' on movie buffs and is going strong at the box office.
The third instalment of the "Raaz" series starring Emraan Hashmi, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta earned ₹57.4 million (5.74 crore) on Monday, taking the five day total including Thursday's preview to ₹417.6 million (41.74 crore).
The horror film saw 55 percent fall in the collections on Monday as compared to its opening day which collected ₹104.7 million (10.47 crore) nett from around 2250 screens in India.
"Xclusive: #Raaz3 passes Monday examinations with distinction marks. Collects Rs 5.74 cr, taking the 4-day total to 41.76 cr nett. Superb!" Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adars tweeted.
"#Raaz3 Thu previews 58 lacs, Fri 10.47 cr, Sat 11.18 cr, Sun 13.79 cr, Mon 5.74 cr. total: 41.76 cr nett. Excellent!" he said.
With a collection of over ₹100 million the movie is one of the biggest openers of 2012 and has also emerged as the biggest opener for Vishesh Films, actors Emraan Hashmi and Bipasha Basu to date.
The movie did exceptionally well on Sunday. The business on multiplexes and on single screens was better than Friday and Saturday collecting ₹137.9 million on Sunday.
With the latest figures the movie is expected to cross the ₹500 million mark at the box office in its first week. Because of new releases like "Barfi" and "Heroine" in the upcoming week, "Raaz 3" is expected to make as much as ₹700 million in the coming days, koimoi.com reported.
Meanwhile, Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt's production film is giving a tough competition to Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer "Ek Tha Tiger".
"Ek Tha Tiger", which was released on Aug 15, shattered all box office record and was going strong until "Raaz 3" was released on Sept 7. Kabir Khan's directorial movie collected ₹100.1 million in its third week, but in its fourth week the movie has seen a considerable fall collecting only ₹25 million.
"#EkThaTiger collected approx Rs 2.50 cr nett in Weekend 4, taking the total to Rs 197.40 cr nett. All Time Blockbuster," he said.
Still, the movie has earned ₹1.974 billion in its fourth weekend and is all set to cross the ₹2 billion mark at the box office, surpassing top grosser "3 Idiots".
