Raabta and Magadheera's legal battle has finally ended as the court has announced its verdict in favour of the makers of Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon starrer.
The makers of Telugu movie Magadheera had alleged that Raabta is a copy of the former, and had demanded a stay on its release. Producer Allu Arvind had first sent a legal notice to makers of Raabta, alleging plagiarism.

Now it appears that the Magadheera makers' accusations were not only baseless but was part of a bigger conspiracy. It has been reported that producers of Raabta were ready to show the movie to the other party to make them realise that it is not a remake or copy. They had even reportedly agreed to pay the demanded compensation if the court decides in favour of the South film.
However, producers of Magadheera were reportedly not interested in any of the terms and were adamant to get a stay on the release of Raabta at any cost. It appeared that a Hindi remake of Magadheera is being planned for which they wanted a ban on Raabta.
"The Raabta makers received a legal notice from the producer (Allu Arvind) of Magadheera citing plagiarism. They requested him to watch their rough-cut, but he didn't want that. Obviously, a bigger game, which unravelled later, was being played," Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying.
"They were willing to show Allu Arvind Raabta so he could compare it with Magadheera to ascertain it's not a copy, but he wasn't interested. They offered to put the compensation being asked for into escrow with the esteemed court and if the court decided it was a copy, he could take the amount demanded. He wasn't even interested in entertaining this," the source added.
Revealing the apparent conspiracy, the source further said, "The only thing I can think of is that he had sold the rights of Magadheera to be made in Hindi and is concerned that since Raabta is also about reincarnation and unrequited love, after its release, no one will want to do a similar genre soon. Maybe I am wrong but since the aim was to stop the release rather than fight the case correctly, this is the only reason that makes sense".
Nevertheless, the court has cleared Raabta of plagiarism charges. The movie will be released on June 9. Here are top 5 reasons to watch Raabta:
- 1) The trailer of Raabta suggests the movie will have some impressive visual effects and action sequences.
- 2) Sushant and Kriti's chemistry has been the talk of the town for quite some time, and their on-screen camaraderie will certainly be worth watching.
- 3) The plot of Raabta seems quite unique. Although Bollywood had made a number of films on reincarnation, Raabta seems to be different with interesting twists.
- 4) Director Dinesh Vijan holds the credit of making some brilliant movies like Badlapur, Cocktail and Love Aaj Kal among others. So we can expect some brilliance in Raabta too.
- 5) Sushant's last movie was MS Dhoni: The Untold Story which was a box office hit. His performance was much appreciated and thus, it will be interesting to see how he follows up the act
