A complete R2-D2 unit was sold at auction for nearly $3 million in California on June 28th. It was assembled from components from the original Star Wars trilogy and the first two prequels. The auction house had estimated the deal would be less than $2 million. Apparently, they underestimated how much people love this cute and resourceful droid.
