Most of us rooted for Madhav Shastri aka Maddy (R Madhavan) when he chased Reena Malhotra (Dia Mirza), the woman of his dreams, in "Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein." But his journey is cut short by Rajeev Samra (Saif Ali Khan) who enters the scene as a charming young man ready to sweep his princess (Reena) off her feet. The story ends with Maddy and Reena reuniting. There are reports that there could be a sequel to it.
Actor Jackky Bhagnani told SpotboyE there are big plans for "RHTDM" and another hit film from the late 1990s, but refused to divulge any details, saying it was too early to make announcements.
"It's too early to talk about this, but yes, we have big plans for Bade Miyan..., Rehna Hai... and FALTU. All of them had worked very well with the audience," he said. "FALTU" had opened with mixed reviews but the premise was interesting.
"Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda in double roles (where they played cops and crooks with equal finesse), was apparently loved by the audience. But is making a part two necessary?
Both films were produced by Jackky's father, Vashu Bhagnani.
"The scripts are being worked out. Jackky and his sister Deepshikha are toying with the idea of either reinventing the story with a contemporary touch or bringing out completely new stories. However, they will retain the titles. The 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' sequel is likely to go on floors first," the entertainment portal quoted a source as saying.
