Dhaka Dyanamites have booked their slot for the Bangladesh Premier League 2016 final, and their opponent will be confirmed on Wednesday. The winner between Khulna Titans and Rajshahi Kings in Qualifier 2, which is virtually a semifinal, will meet Dynamites in the title-decider.
During the Qualifier 1, the Titans had a great chance of defeating the Dynamites, and reaching the final, but their batsmen failed the team when they required only 141 runs to win. The Titans need to forget what transpired and play some quality cricket to reach the final.
The Kings, on the other hand, come into this clash super confident, after a stunning performance from Darren Sammy, whose stunning half-century in a desperate situation paved the way for the team's victory. Both teams are aware that it is a new day today, where some quality cricket for three-and-a-half hours or so could be enough to help them cross the finishing line and set up a date with the Dynamites.
The Titans were one of the best teams in BPL 2016 group stages, finishing second after playing some wonderful cricket. They need to bring that similar level of cricket to defeat Kings. There is a serious need for the Titans' top order to give their team a solid start. Opener Andre Fletcher has to play the key role and skipper Mahmudullah has to spend more time on the crease to put up a big total.
Players like Benny Howell have to step up their game in Qualifier 2. Bowlers such as Junaid Khan and Mosharraf Hossain have to be on top form against the Kings' batsmen.
The Kings will hope to see their top order, including Mominul Haque, who has not converted his starts into good scores of late, to get back to his fluent best. With players like Sabbir Rahman, the Kings batting line-up will be a huge threat.
However, they are super strong in the all-rounders' department, with Samit Patel, James Franklin and Sammy taking charge. The trio have some good international experience to dig their team out of trouble.
On paper, there is not much to choose between the two BPL 2016 teams. Titans and Kings have played two head-to-head matches in the competition, with both teams winning one each. Quality cricket should be the need of the hour to reach the finals.
