Mahindra has been developing an updated version of the Quanto for quite a long time, and the vehicle was snapped in camouflage many times in 2015. The Quanto facelift was reported to have been christened the Canto last year, in line with the tradition of Mahindra naming all their vehicles ending with the alphabet O. Mahindra seems to have taken a different route with the Quanto facelift, and reports claim the updated model will be called Nuvosport.
Spy pictures by Overdrive.in show a reworked front-end of the Quanto facelift. The Nuvosport features a smaller grille and a pair of large headlamps in a different design. The eyebrow-styled daytime running lamps, the hood scoop and a larger air dam adds sportiness to the overall design. The Nuvosport also features plastic cladding and new alloy wheels. The rear of the vehicle remains largely untouched. The only change found in the picture is the blackened taillights.
Under the hood, the Nuvosport will be powered by both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol mill is expected to be a 1.2-litre mHawk 100 engine while the diesel unit will be the Quanto's 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine, which can pump 100bhp at 3,750rpm and 240Nm of torque between 1,600rpm and 2,800rpm. Apart from the standard five-speed manual transmission for both engines, the petrol models may debut with the AMT box as well.
