As expected, comedy film "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" had a flying start at the domestic box office. "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" minted Rs 6.80 crore on day one from the domestic box office.
The opening day box office collection of "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" is better than movies, which features Bollywood A-list actors.
Though the genres are different, "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" fared better money than Abhishek Bachchan's "All Is Well" (Rs 2.91 crore), Deepika Padukone's "Piku" (Rs 5.32 crore), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's "Jazbaa" (Rs 4.23 crore) and Kangana Ranaut's "Katti Batti" (Rs 5.28 crore) among others.
In fact, the first day business of "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" is similar to that of Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty's "Hero" (Rs 6.85 crore), which was promoted by Salman Khan.
"#PyaarKaPunchnama2 takes a FLYING START. Fri ₹ 6.80 cr [on 1400 screens]. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" features lesser-known talents, but still it managed to pull off a good show at the ticket windows in India. The comedy drama is a sequel to the 2011 film "Pyaar Ka Punchnama".
When released in 2011 "Pyaar Ka Punchnama" accumulated less than a crore at the box office, but the positive reviews helped it to earn approximately Rs 9 crore.
And since the sequel also opened with positive to mixed reviews, the box office collection will shoot-up during the weekend. "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" will have a good opening weekend at the box office.
Directed by Luv Ranjan, the film features Nushrat Bharucha, Sonali Sehgall, Ishita Sharma and lead actor Kartik Aryan reprising their roles in the sequel, while Raayo S Bakhirta and Divyendu Sharma have been replaced by two debutantes Sunny Singh and Omkar Kapoor, respectively.
