Director Luv Ranjan's "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" (PKP 2) has done good collection at the Indian box office in the third week and it has surpassed the mark of Rs 60 crore mark in domestic market in 21 days.
"Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" is a comedy movie and it is a sequel to the 2011 film "Pyaar Ka Punchnama". Released in theatres on 16 October, the film opened to good response and a good word of mouth helped it maintain rock steady in the first week. Despite clashing with Aishwarya Rai's "Jazbaa", the movie collected Rs 39.25 crore nett at the Indian box office in the first week.
In its second week, "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" clashed with Shahid Kapoor's "Shaandaar", but it managed to do well. When compared to its opening day collection, the film showed over 60% drop on its second Friday, but it showed decent growth on the following days. In its second week, the movie Rs 14.25 crore at the Indian box office, taking its 14-day domestic total to Rs 53.50 crore.
"Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2" was forced out of many theatres by 'Main Aur Charles' and three other small films in its third week. With its business dropping by another 50%, the movie has collected Rs 7.2 crore at the Indian box office in the third week. Its 21-day domestic total stands Rs 60.70 crore.
Leading Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#PyaarKaPunchnama2 crosses ₹ 60 cr mark. [Week 3] Fri-Sat-Sun 4.35 cr, Mon-Tue-Wed-Thu 2.85 cr. Total: ₹ 60.70 cr. India biz. SMASH HIT!"
