Silver medallist from Rio 2016 Olympics, PV Sindhu, is all set to ply her trade once again after bringing much glory to the nation from the quadrennial event. The Indian badminton star will take part in the BWF Super Series 2016 in Denmark this week.
Sindhu takes on China's He Bingjiao in the first round of the women's singles event. The 21-year-old is not the only Indian in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super Series tournament as the likes of Kidambi Srikanth, Ajay Jayaram, Sai Praneeth B, H S Prannoy, P Kashyap, Manu Attri, Reddy B Sumeeth, Pranaav Jerry Chopra, Akshay Dewalkar and N Sikki Reddy will also be seen in action.
Former Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal will, however, not be seen in the tournament as she is recovering from a knee injury. All the limelight, therefore, is expected to be on Sindhu, who is expected to get an impressive result for herself from the series.
"Olympics has given me a lot of confidence and with the same confidence I hope I would go further," Sindhu was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India.
"Responsibilities will always be high from now on. It's just that I shouldn't take much of pressure and play my game. I just want to go to the court and give my 100 per cent," she added.
Sindhu has been clubbed in the second half of the draw alongside the likes of Sung Ji-hyun of South Korea and Tai Tzu Ying of China. Carolina Marin, who won the Rio 2016 Olympics women's badminton singles gold medal, beating Sindhu, is clubbed in the top half of the draw alongside Sun Yu of China and others.
