In a shocking incident that took place in Punjab, a 40-year-old woman was axed to death by a young man in full public view. The incident took place on Sunday morning in the Kila Raipur village, around 30 km from Ludhiana when the woman, Sarbjit Kaur, was returning home.

The police have identified the accused as Maninder Singh. They said Kaur was hacked with the axe repeatedly on her neck and chest till she died. The police do not know how many people were present at the time of the incident.
After murdering the woman, the accused videographed the woman lying in a pool of blood. He also focused the camera on himself and muttered something before ending the video.
According to NDTV, a policeman said, "He made a video of himself standing next to the body of the woman, after he committed the crime."
Interestingly, Singh called the police and confessed to killing Sarbjit Kaur. Dhruman Nimbley, the DCP in Ludhiana said, "The accused informed the police control room after the incident, following which he was arrested."
"A case has been registered at the police station in Dehlon based on the complaint of Lakhwinder Kaur, Sarbjit's daughter," added Nimbley.
Preliminary investigations, have revealed that the victim knew about Maninder Singh's alleged affair with another woman of the same village. Maninder claimed that he was being blackmailed and thus decided to kill her.
The police registered a case and took up investigation.
