Puneeth Rajkumar's "Power" is one of the much awaited films of the year. Though no confirmation regarding the film's release has been made yet, the latest buzz is that the film is set to release on 25 July.

"Power" directed by Prem was initially named as "Ashwathama" and was later changed, as the team thought that the title did not match the superstar image of Puneeth.
"Power" is the remake of Telugu action comedy film "Dookudu" starring Mahesh Babu and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The film was released in 2011 and was declared a super hit with a collection of ₹101 crore. The film also won innumerable awards, which include seven Nandi Awards, six Filmfare Awards and eight South Indian International Film Awards. Keeping the popularity of the film in mind, "Dookudu" was dubbed as "Athiradi Vettai" in Tamil, "Choodan" in Malayalam and "The Real Tiger" in Hindi.
In "Dookudu," Babu plays the character of Ajay Kumar, a daring cop in Mumbai whose father was killed in an accident when he was small. Prakash Raj plays as Babu's father Shankara Narayana, a well respected politician in the city. He is given a mission to track down the underworld don Nayak who is the ultimate name for Illegal drug trade, extortion and arms trafficking. During his mission, Ajay Kumar finds truth behind his father's death. The film also had Kota Srinivas Rao, Bhahmanandam, Vennela Kishore, Sonu Sood, Ajaz Khan, Rajiv Kanakala and Sayaji Shinde in the lead roles.
The music of "Power" is composed by S Thaman, who also did for the Telugu version. The music launch took place in Municipal Ground, Bellary on 28 June in the presence of more than 70,000 fans. Telugu superstar and "Dookudu" star Babu was the chief guest of the event.
"Power" will see Tamil – Telugu actress Trisha Krishnan making her debut in Kannada. The film also has Prabhu Ganeshan, Kelly Dorji, Rangayana Raghu, Sadhu Kokila, Sarath Lohitashva, Chitra, Doddanna, Adhi Lokesh and Dharma in the lead roles. The film, which was shot in the beautiful locations of Spain, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Sandur and Bangalore is expected to hit theatres soon. The film is produced by Ram Achantha, Gopi Chand Achantha and Anil Sunkara.
