As Power star Puneeth Rajkumar is gearing up for the release of his film "Power," rumours are going viral about his role in the remake of 2013 Tamil film "Ivan Vera Mathiri." Apparently, the actor had been approached for the film and he will soon make a decision on it.
"Ivan Vera Mathiri" is a Tamil romantic thriller directed by M. Saravanan. The film starred Vikram Prabhu in the lead role. Prabhu played the role of Gunashekharan, an ordinary unemployed youth who kidnaps Easwar played by Vamsi. Easwar is a notorious criminal and brother-in-law of a minister. The film revolves around Gunashekaran's way of taking his revenge against the highly corrupt minister who was responsible for killing three college students. The film also had Surabhi, Ganesh Venkatraman, Vamsi Krishna and Hariraj in the lead roles.The film was reviewed as an average, but was appreciated for Prabhu's performance in it.
"Ivan Vera Mathiri" was also dubbed into Telugu with the title "Citizen." There are speculations about Saravanan directing the Kannada version and actresses Tamanna Bhatia and Kajal Aggarwal are approached to play the lead role in the film. If everything goes well with Puneeth, the shooting of the film will begin next year.
Puneeth's upcoming release "Power" is a remake of the Telugu action comedy film "Dookudu," which starred Mahesh Babu and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles. The film was released in 2011 and was declared a super hit with a collection of ₹101 crore. The film also won innumerable awards, which include seven Nandi Awards, six Filmfare Awards and eight South Indian International Film Awards. Keeping the popularity of the film in mind, "Dookudu" was dubbed as "Athiradi Vettai" in Tamil, "Choodan" in Malayalam and "The Real Tiger" in Hindi.
Tamil–Telugu actress Trisha Krishnan will play opposite Puneeth in "Power," which is her debut Kannada film. It also has Prabhu Ganeshan, Kelly Dorji, Rangayana Raghu, Sadhu Kokila, Sarath Lohitashva, Chitra, Doddanna, Adhi Lokesh and Dharma in the lead roles. The film, which was shot in the beautiful locations of Spain, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Sandur and Bangalore, is expected to hit theatres soon. It is produced by Ram Achantha, Gopi Chand Achantha and Anil Sunkara.
Puneeth is currently shooting for "Ranavikrama" directed by Pavan Wadeyar. The actor had also signed "Doddamane Haduga" directed by Soori and "Ahvaana" directed by Prasanth Neel.
