Pulimurugan worldwide box office collection: Mohanlal-starrer scores big in 2 months

After creating many records, Mohanlal's Pulimurugan has become the biggest grossing movie ever in Malayalam with tremendous collection from the worldwide box office. The action thriller, which was the first Mollywood project to have crossed Rs 100 crore mark, is the third blockbuster of Mohanlal in 2016.

The Vysakh-directed film is believed to have earned a gross collection of Rs 125.80 crore from all over the globe within two months of its release. According to trade analysts, the Mohanlal-starrer has earned approximately Rs 77 crore from the box office in Kerala alone, apart from Rs 9 crore earned from rest of India.

The movie also opened to a fabulous response from the audience in overseas markets and has become one of the top grossing movies in the UAE, Europe and the US. While the action thriller is estimated to have earned Rs 32.80 crore from the UAE and GCC, it is said to have earned over Rs 3.50 crore from the UK and US box offices. Pulimurugan is also said to have made a business of over Rs 1 crore from other markets, apart from earning Rs 2.5 crore for its Telugu version, Manyam Puli, taking the total to Rs 125.80 crore.

The big-budget entertainer, bankrolled by Tomichan Mulakupadam, also stars Lal, Vinu Mohan, Kamalini Mukherjee, Bala, Jagapathi Babu in main roles. It is the third back-to-back blockbuster of Mohanlal after the commercially successful movies, Janatha Garage and Oppam, in 2016.

Since the movie is still running successfully with a few houseful shows in many parts, it is expected to cross the Rs 130 crore mark in a week. The good run of the Mohanlal-starrer is said to continue until Christmas releases hit theatres in December. Mohanlal is currently awaiting the release of the family entertainer Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol, which has been scheduled to hit the screens on December 22.
