After the crime thriller Oppam, Mohanlal's action thriller Pulimurugan is on the way to become the highest grossing movie of the superstar. The Vysakh directorial, which was released on October 7 locking horns against Mammootty's Thoppil Joppan, is performing well at the Kerala box office.
According to trade analysts, the action thriller, in which Mohanlal plays the role of wild hunter Murugan is said to have minted a gross amount of approximately more than Rs 46 crore from all over India with an earning of Rs 40 crore from Kerala alone within 14 days of its theatrical run in the state. The movie, which was screened in as many as 330 screens on the opening day, is still running successfully in nearly 300 screens in its third week.

Meanwhile, the Mohanlal-starrer has been holding well at multiplexes in Kochi. Pulimurugan, which has so far made a business of Rs 1.83 crore from the multiplexes, is said to have earned Rs 10.07 lakh on the 14th day alone there. The movie has average theatre occupancy of 57.66 per cent after running 52 shows. However, unlike the first 13 days, the action thriller was screened without a single houseful show in six screens.
Since the first day of its release, Pulimurugan has already made many records at the Kerala box office. The Mohanlal-starrer has emerged as the highest opening day grosser in Malayalam with an approximate collection of Rs 4.08 crore, which is Rs 1.65 crore more than Mammootty's Kasaba that made a business of Rs 2.43 crore on its first day at Kerala box office.
It also collected a gross amount of Rs 14.97 lakh at the multiplexes in Kochi on the opening day with an overall 98.71 per cent theatre occupancy. The action thriller has also become the fastest movie to enter the Rs 20 crore club in Kerala.
