Apart from Malayalam films, the South Indian State of Kerala has become a good market for other language films as well. Many Hindi and Tamil films have grossed record collections from Kerala, making it a viable market for the Indian entertainment industry.
The much-awaited, superstar Vijay starrer "Puli", which was released in nearly 200 screens in Kerala, collected around Rs 3.87 crore within four days.

Meanwhile, "Puli" has raked in Rs 2.84 crore at the Chennai box office in its first weekend.
Produced by Shibu Thameens and PT Selvakumar, the big budget fantasy thriller has been receiving mixed reviews from movie-goers and critics.
The film, written and directed by Chimbu Devan, has an ensemble cast including Sudeep, Sridevi, Shruti Haasan, Hansika Motwani, Prabhu and Nandita Swetha.
Meanwhile, a video from a Chennai theatre, which shows the reaction of the audience who leave the cinema hall disappointed as the movie plays on, has gone viral on social networking site Facebook.
