Vijay's "Puli" has shown a massive growth in its collection at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/T) box office on the second day of its release, even as the makers added 250 shows for the movie from its third day.
Vijay is one of the most popular Tamil actors in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Most of his previous movies were released in these areas and turned out to be big hits. The promos of his latest outing "Puli" have created a lot of curiosity among the film goers across these two states. Hence, the movie registered a huge amount of advance booking for its opening day.
Unfortunately, the screening of "Puli" got cancelled in these states on Thursday and the theatres refunded the viewers' money for the first day bookings. It was a big loss for the distributors. The screening of the film began on Friday evening after the makers settled all the issues. The movie saw a good occupancy in evening and night shows.
"Puli" received mixed reviews from the critics as well as audiences and trade analyst in Film Nagar predicted that the word of mouth will take a toll on its collection. But to their surprise, the movie opened to a good response and it ran to packed houses at many centres in these states.
SVR Media has acquired the distribution rights of "Puli" for a whopping Rs 7.70 crore. The film was initially released at 400 cinema halls. After seeing the huge craze and demand for the film, they have now increased 250 shows per day.
On the official Facebook page of SVR Media, the makers expressed their excitement over the response to Puli". They wrote, "Finally inspite of late release we are blessed with superb openings and full shows in all theatres we thank each and everyone who has been back support for the release. Please Keep watching PULI PULI PULI..... THANX AGAIN..."
