Actor Ranbir Kapoor has landed himself in hot soup, with the actor failing to abide by the orders of Rajasthan court in addition to abstaining from the June 26 court hearing over his smoking fiasco.
Since Ranbir failed to turn up for the hearing on the given date, the court has given him one month's time to appear before the Udaipur court on July 26 without fail.
Ranbir has already been booked for violating Section 5 of the Rajasthan Prevention of Smoking Act. Should the charges against him be proven true, the actor may face maximum six months imprisonment or a fine of ₹200.
Last month, the "Rockstar" actor was summoned by the Udaipur court for allegedly smoking in public during the shoot of his forthcoming film "Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani" in the lake city.
Harish Vaishnav, an Udaipur resident who was apparently irked by photographs of the actor smoking in the open air, filed a complaint at a local court under CrPC Section (156(3)).
Ranbir is not the only star, caught in a row over public smoking. Recently, the King Khan of Bollywood was under also the legal scanner in a similar case of public smoking.
In May 2012, Shah Rukh Khan was summoned by a Jaipur court for smoking at the Sawai Man Singh stadium during an IPL match between teams KKR and Rajasthan Royals on April 8.
