PUBG Mobile update 0.8.0 surely got its players excited as the long-awaited Sanhok map finally arrived along with new weapons, vehicles and more. While the 1.5GB weighing update to the game instantly granted access to the new map, which was an additional 85MB, iOS device users weren't quite happy.
We downloaded the PUBG Mobile 0.8.0 update on our OnePlus 6 and Google Pixel 2 XL phones on Wednesday and started a squad match in the new Sanhok map. While launching the game and logging in via 4G on Android phones worked as normal, but our friends with iPhones (iPhone X and iPhone 7 Plus) had trouble logging in via 4G on their phones.
After trying multiple times, iPhone device users connected to Wi-Fi to launch PUBG Mobile and it worked without a problem. Initially, there were no error messages in the game while logging in via 4G, but a notice was displayed while logging into the game acknowledging the problem on iOS devices.
"We're aware that players on iOS devices are having difficulty logging in via 4G. Our team is currently fixing the issue, but players can log in via WiFi to play. Please accept our sincerest apologies," the PUBG Mobile team wrote.
In a matter of few hours after the notice was displayed, PUBG Mobile developers seemed to have fixed the glitch. It remains unknown what caused the issue only on iOS devices, but the official Twitter handle notified players that the issue was resolved early Thursday. We tested the game on both iPhone X and iPhone 7 Plus using a 4G connection, and it works perfectly fine.
That said, PUBG Mobile is soaring to new heights. The popular battle royale game announced that it has 20 million daily active users on the mobile platform globally. There's also a short video to celebrate this feat, which was achieved in a short period of just 6 months. The announcement comes only a month after the Tencent announced that PUBG Mobile crossed 100 million downloads on Android and iOS and hosts 14 million daily active users.
At the current pace, PUBG Mobile is maintaining a strong lead ahead of Fortnite – at least on the Android platform for now. It remains to be seen how Fortnite's full-fledged debut on Android will affect PUBG Mobile. Stay tuned for updates.
