TVS Motor Company had unveiled Akula 310, a track-bred bike concept at Auto Expo 2016 to celebrate 33rd anniversary of TVS as a factory team in motorsports arena. The positive response from the show goers prompted TVS to fast track works on the production-spec and the launch of the motorcycle is expected in June or July.
While the concept's name is Akula, the production-spec has been rumored with many names. It was initially said to be named the Raptor then, Apache 300. Though TVS has not commented on the actual name of the Akula 310, a report in Gaadiwaadi says it will be called Apache RR 310S in the production avatar. The report says TVS has already trademarked the name.
When launched, Akula 310's production-spec bike will be the fastest and most powerful motorcycle of TVS. It is expected to be priced under Rs 2 lakh and at that price point it will be a compelling case against KTM RC 390.
The motorcycle is expected to be the finest product from TVS till date because of the collaboration with alliance partner BMW Motorrad. The Akula 310 and the BMW G 310 R will share the same 310cc engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. While the mill in the BMW makes 34bhp and 28Nm of torque, TVS is likely to detune the engine to keep the cost in check.
The purported model has been snapped recently at a dealership stockyard. It looks like the track-bred fully-faired motorcycle does justice to the concept. The motorcycle was spotted in blue shade and comes with twin projector headlamps along with upside down front forks. The vertically aligned digital instrumentation is carried as it is from the concept. The motorcycle is spotted with Pirelli tyres.
