Eight games done, seven more to go in the regular league season of the inaugural edition of the Pro Wrestling League 2015 in India. The 'Khel Fauladi' action on the mat is taking the nation steadily by storm, as Indian and international amateur wrestling stars are putting on brave displays in the competition.
Friday's action in the tournament sees two neighbouring regions Delhi and Punjab go head-to-head in the league. This is the third and the last match at the Hyatt Regency in Gurgaon this year.
Dilli Veer are having a tough time to get off the mark this season, as they have lost both their games in the competition so far. While their first defeat came against Haryana Hammers, their latest defeat was against UP Warriors on Tuesday.
World Championship bronze medallist Bekhbayar Erdenebat in the men's 57 kg division and Vinesh Phogat in the women's 48 kg division remained the only key wrestlers for Team Delhi in their previous match in the PWL.
Punjab Royals, on the other hand, come into this game, at the backdrop of a massive win against UP Warriors. Praveen Rana (men's 74 kg division) remained one of the stars as he defeated star Mongolian wrestler Purevjav Unurbat of the side from Uttar Pradesh.
Punjab's 'icon' player Geeta Phogat too picked up a close win against Sabita in the women's 58 kg division.
On paper, Punjab Royals may look the better side today, but expect Dilli Veer to make a statement of sorts as they will be looking for a desperate win to open their innings in the Pro Wrestling League 2015.
Dilli Veer vs Punjab Royals is scheduled for a 7 pm IST start.
