The inaugural season of the Pro Kabbadi League (PKL) has started from 26 July with eight franchisees competing in a month-long tournament.
The PKL will provide good exposure to the Indian players ahead of the Incheon Asian Games, starting 19 September. India is the most successful team in the history of Kabbadi, having won all seven gold medals in Asiad since 1990.
Rules: Each of the eight franchises will have a minimum of 10 players and maximum of 12 players allowed each game, with seven players taking the court at one time.
A team can make any number of substitutions in the game with referee's permission but cannot substitute the players that are out, suspended or disqualified. The substitution can take place during a stoppage or when a raider returns to his half.
Duration: Duration of the match is 40 minutes, divided into two halfs of twenty minutes each. Both team will swap courts after the first half and resume the game with same number of players.
Teams: There are eight teams in the Pro Kabbadi League, namely:

Patna Pirates from Patna
Puneri Paltan from Pune
Telegu Titans from Vizag
U Mumba from Mumbai

Schedule: Eight teams will be competing for 37 days to reach the finals, slated to take place in Bangalore's Kanteerava Indoor Stadium on August 31.
