Mohit Chhillar and Sandeep Narwal remained the most expensive customers during the Pro Kabaddi season 4 auction in Mumbai on Friday. While Mohit moved to Bengaluru Bulls for a whopping Rs. 53 lakh, Sandeep was bagged by Telugu Titans for Rs. 45.5 lakh.
A total of 96 players from a list of 198 players were bought by the eight Pro Kabaddi League franchisees, making the overall business of the day reach the figure of Rs. 12.82 crore. It was announced that from 2016, the fierce and entertaining kabaddi league would be featured biannually.
While Season 3 saw Patna Pirates lift the title in March, it was announced that Season 4 will start on June 25.
Mohit, who is a corner defender, remained a key player of U Mumba over the previous seasons. His base price in the Pro Kabaddi auction was a mere Rs. 12 lakh, but that didn't prevent the other teams from launching a bidding war to get their hands on the player.
Each team had the option of retaining two players. Pro Kabaddi 2015 champions U Mumba retained their skipper Anup Kumar and Rishank Devadiga, while Dabang Delhi retained star raider Kashiling Adake and Selvamani K.
Defending champions Patna Pirates retained Pardeep Narwal and Rajesh Mondal, while Rahul Chaudhari and Sukesh Hegde were retained by Telugu Titans.
Inaugural season champions Jaipur Pink Panthers retained Rajesh Narwal and Jasvir Singh, while Bengal Warriors, who reached the last four for the first time last season, retained Nilesh Shinde and Girish Maruti Ernak.
Pawan Kumar and Ashish Kumar, meanwhile, will once again play for Bengaluru Bulls.
