Dabang Delhi and Bengaluru Bulls got their much-needed rest on Sunday, as they gear up for their next game in the Pro Kabaddi League.
The Delhi side take on their Bangalorean counterpart in their opening encounter of the Rajasthan leg of the lucrative kabaddi league this year at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
Delhi, currently in the fourth place, have a record of one loss and two wins – their latest win came over hosts Bengal Warriors in the Kolkata leg of the Pro Kabaddi League.
The Delhi side, coached by Honnappa C. Gowda, got the better of the Kolkata side by a whopping 11 points in the final game this year at Kolkata.
Instrumental raider Rohit Kumar Chaudhary and inspirational defender Ravinder Singh Pahal stayed the two star players of the Delhi side on the day as they got past an injury-hit Warriors side by a 32-21 result.
The Kolkata side suffered a setback early during the game when key defender Nilesh Shinde was stretchered off in the 12th minute of the match, after Nilesh tried to stop a super raid from Chaudhary, who was adjudged the Best Raider of the match.
If that was not enough, Bengal skipper Dinesh Kumar suffered a knee injury as he conducted a do-or-die raid but rival defender Ravinder caught him in an unpleasant position, resulting in the injury.
That shattered the morale of the Bengal side, allowing Dabang Delhi an easy win.
Bengaluru, on the other hand, sit in the third position of the table, following three wins and a solitary loss. Their only loss came against leaders U Mumba in Mumbai, but the Bulls soon regained their momentum in the next two games at Kolkata.
The Bulls rode on the phenomenal performances of Manjeet Chhillar to record 31-26 wins against Patna Pirates and Puneri Paltan, respectively, in the Kolkata leg.
Ashish Chhokar and Rakesh Narwal rose to the challenge against the Paltan in their last game, and it looks that the side led by Manjeet is going into the game with an eye to cement their spot in the top three.
The match gets underway at 8 pm IST (3:30pm BST).
