Telugu Titans finished third in the Pro Kabaddi League 2015 as they got past Patna Pirates in the third-place playoff game at the NSCI Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, 23 August.
The Hyderabad side rode on the brilliant performance of star raider Rahul Chaudhary on the day to notch the 34-26 win against the Patna side.
Chaudhary picked up as many as 12 points in the game, which included two super raids, after he came on as a substitute. Star raider Deepak Hudda also supported Chaudhary as the duo combined to inflict two all-outs in either halves of the game.
Deepak scored an overall five points in the game, while another Titans raider Prashant Rai picked up seven raid points.
For the Pirates, skipper Sandeep Narwal remained the key man on the day as he notched a total of 11 points individually (seven raid points and three defence points) to help his team marginalise the point-gap between the teams, even a bit.
The defending front of the Patna side fared better than their attacking front as defenders Sunil Kumar and Suresh Kumar stepped up. While Sunil snapped up six tackle points, left corner man Suresh tallied five defence points, and helped their captain during the play.
Gurvinder Singh was good with the raids for Patna as well as he notched three points from his raids in the game.
However, the Telugu Titans had the last laugh as the trio of Deepak, Rahul, and Prashant continued their impressive performance to record the comfortable win and take home prize money of Rs. 30 lakhs.
The third runners-up, Patna Pirates, were awarded Rs. 20 lakh as prize money.
U Mumba were the eventual winners of the competition this year, while Bengaluru Bulls were the runners-up.
