Priyanka Chopra, who plays Alex Parrish in the hit TV show Quantico, put out a happy video after being nominated in the Best Actress category of the People's Choice Awards 2017, but was immediately swept aside by a Twitter handle we can only assume to be belonging to someone who is an ardent fan of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
Jayalalithaa, who has been in the hospital for 75 days now, had made a near-full recovery before suffering cardiac arrest on Sunday, which put her back in the Critical Care Unit of the Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, where she had been undergoing treatment. Monday was tumultuous, to say the least, with rumours of her death being spread around.
A chipper Priyanka had taken to Twitter to announce her nomination and also urged her fans to vote for her on the official website of the awards. However, the Twitter handle @mny47, purportedly belonging to one "Rajdeep singh" — yes, with a lower-case "s" at the beginning of the surname — was quick to reply to her: "cut the crap of yours Pray for #jayalalithaa [sic]."
Strangely enough, one of the later tweets from the handle really had us confused, as to whether his earlier "rebuke" was simply a ploy of getting attention. He wrote: "#jayalalithaa I don't know her , but God save her as i see how much ppl love her Theek ho jao AAMA [sic]." We can only assume either one or both of tweets were jokes.
The second season of Quantico, meanwhile, is on its winter break after eight episodes, after teasing the audience with the twist that Alex will learn in the future that Ryan is one of the terrorists. And more will be revealed when the show returns in January 2017, reportedly at a new time slot of Monday evening, instead of the erstwhile Sundays.
Meanwhile, check out the tweets here:
