Priyanka Chopra, who is all set to make her debut in Hollywood with "Baywatch," revealed that her role was initially written for a man. She will be seen sharing screen space with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
"It (the role) was initially written for a man and they were talking to me for another part. But after the director met me, they thought I would be better as a villain and then they changed the character to be a female," Priyanka told the Press Trust of India over the phone from Montreal, Canada.
After her American television series "Quantico," this is her second international project, but in this film she plays the character of a villain Victoria Leeds. The film is inspired from the 1990s television series of the same name, which was about a group of lifeguards in California.
"It is so much fun to play a negative character because you have the liberty to go out of your comfort zone and do anything. Victoria is a very mean character," Priyanka told PTI. The actress has earlier played negative roles in Bollywood movies like "Aitraaz" and "7 Khoon Maaf."
"It was really exciting that they changed the role for me. You have to be a very strong character to take on 'The Rock' and entire lifeguard squad. They will be six whereas I am alone. It looked very cool to me," she said.
Produced by Paramount Pictures, Johnson aka The Rock will essay the character of the leader of an elite group of lifeguards and Zac will be seen as a young hotshot former Olympian.
Dwayne and Priyanka made the official announcement that she would be part of "Baywatch" with a video on Instagram In the video, Johnson introduced the "Bajirao Mastani" actress as India's biggest star and one of the world's biggest stars.
