Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra will reportedly star in a Tamil film opposite a Vijay.
The "Gunday" actress was in contention for the race of the female lead, along with Deepika Padukone. While both the actresses are said to have expressed interest in the flick, recent development has it that Priyanka has been picked over the "Chennai Express" actress, reported One India.
The decision was taken by the filmmakers after Deepika's busy calendar clashed with the film's schedule. On the other hand, Priyanka reportedly took her time in giving her consent to the project.
Vijay's film directed by Chimbu Devan of "Imsai Arasan 23m Pulikesi" and "Arai En 305-il Kadavul" fame, is said to be a fantasy project. This is the first time Vijay will be teaming up with the director, who is otherwise well known for his comedy entertainers.
While Deepika already made her grand Tamil debut opposite Rajinikanth's soon-to-be released "Kochadaiiyaan", this isn't Priyanka's first Tamil film.
The former Miss World made her debut in Tamil films with "Thamizhan" (2002), which too was opposite Vijay. While the film failed to create any buzz at the box office, we hope that the pair reuniting will prove to be a success this time.
Meanwhile, Vijay's latest action entertainer "Jilla" with Mohanlal has set the cash registers ringing, despite facing a stiff competition from Ajith's "Veeram". Mohanlal's presence and the Vijay-Kajal Aggarwal pairing have worked in the film's favour and registered good collections.
Vijay is presently shooting for the AR Murugadoss's film, which is being shot in Kolkata and Chennai.
