"'Mary Kom' was selected for the Stockholm International Film Festival Junior in Sweden, and we have won the best film award and been given the Bronze Horse award, the highest honour in this festival. The jury was made up of kids ranging from the age of nine to 17 years," the film's director Omung Kumar said, according to PTI.
Released in September last year, "Mary Kom" is based on the life and success of five-time world champion and Olympic medal-winning boxer Mary Kom.
The film garnered overwhelming response from the audience and Priyanka was highly praised for her portrayal of the character. The gorgeous actress transformed herself to get into the skin of the champion boxer with cut muscles and delivering some powerful punches.
Omung said the film will also be screened at the Indian Film Festival in Sweden to be held next month.
"This award is a very big thing for us because now it will bridge the gap between Sweden and India. We can now distribute our films over here. 'Mary Kom' will again be showcased in Sweden by the Indian Embassy at the Indian Film Festival next month," he said.
