Former Miss World and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has sent a legal notice to her ex-boyfriend Aseem Merchant for making a film on her early life.
Merchant is apparently producing a film "67 Days" based on the infamous fallout between Chopra and former manager Prakash Jaju over money.
Chopra has earlier said that she is unhappy and angry for making a movie based on that particular chapter of her life. The "Barfi!" actress has claimed that the film will showcase that phase which affected the lives of her and her family members.
Following this her lawyer Anand Desai has sent a legal notice to Merchant and Jaju.
"Our client is shocked to note that while all the news articles mention the proposed film as your (Jaju's) biopic, the promotions largely refer to our client and inclusion of aspects of her and her family life rather than references to you," the notice states, according to The Times of India.
"You are intending to collude with Merchant in violation of our client's rights, including right to privacy, defaming our client and lowering her reputation, seeking to subject her to hatred and ridicule."
"Our client calls upon you to withdraw all the publicity material of the film with immediate effect, desist using or referring to any personal or confidential information about her and/or her family, desist from producing, releasing the proposed film and tender an unconditional apology to her."
Merchant dated Chopra in 2000 during her Miss World beauty pageant days. Merchant has previously said that he started a production company to make films. He also stated that he would produce the biopic despite the actress's disapproval.
In 2008, Jaju and Chopra had a tiff which went to such an extent that Chopra's father Ashok Chopra had to file an FIR against Jaju.
Jaju claimed that the actress owed him a large chunk of money and has not paid her dues also. The situation went out of control when Jaju started interfering into the actress' personal life. After Chopra's father filing complaint aginst him, Jaju was eventually arrested from Madhya Pradesh and was sent behind the bars for over two months.
However, Jaju wants Chopra to read the script and then take her decision about the film.
"If she still has any objection, then we shall drop the film. I don't want to hurt her sentiments. The film is about me, not Priyanka. She is just a chapter in that," he said.
