"Krrish 3" actress Priyanka Chopra celebrated International Girl Child Day with students of Holy Mother School in Mumbai, on Friday.
During her interaction with the girls, Priyanka highlighted the importance of education and career. As a strong advocate for the education of girl child, the actress is set to promote the "Our Girls Our Pride" campaign, associated by NDTV. She also has her own foundation which educates girls.
She has presented five children from the school with scholarships.
"Had the privilege of meeting some very special lil girls.Thank u for inspiring me to turn #MediocreIntoSpecial," tweeted the 31-year-old actress.
The United Nation General Assembly had adopted a resolution in 2011 to declare 11 October as International Day of the Girl Child. The cause was to recognise the rights of girls and the unique challenges they face around the world.
Besides Priyanka, Bollywod celebrities like Shabana Azmi and the Bachchan family have long pledged their support for the girl child.
Shabana tweeted, "Celebrated International day of the Girlchild organisd by Canadian Counselate with underprivlegd girls from 6 NGOs.Bright, articulate girls."
