The release date of the much-awaited Jayasurya-Priyadarshan film has been announced. The film, touted as an in-and-out entertainer is scheduled to hit theatres on 19 December.
The upcoming movie will also star Pia Bajpai in the lead opposite Jayasurya.
The story of the film revolves around people who live on either banks of a river and the conflict between them. The film is extensively shot in the locations of Karaikudi, which is often referred to as the Chettinad region.
"Aamayum Muyalum" has been making news for a number of reasons. First, Priyadarshan is known for doing films with superstars, but this time, the director ditched his usual lead stars and opted for a younger star Jayasurya for playing the lead role. Second, the director has penned a song for the film, which will be composed by singer-composer MG Sreekumar.
Third, Mohanlal had lent his voice for the movie as a narrator to the film. He has previously turned narrator in six films, including "Swarnam", "Pazhassi Raja", "Wilson Periera" (animated short film), "The Hit List" and "Nammukku Parkkan".
"Aamayum Muyalam" is touted as a folktale with a comic twist, along the lines of Priyadarshan's hit film "Thenmavin Kombathu" starring Mohanlal and Shobhana.
The script of the movie is written by Priyadarshan himself. It is after a long time that the ace director has written the script for a Malayalam film. The last film that he scripted was the 2005 Dileep-starrer "Vettam".
"Aamayum Muyalum" also features Innocent, Nedumudi Venu, Harishree Ashokan, Manianpilla Raju, Mamookoya, KPAC Lalitha, Edavela Babu, Nandu and Anoop Menon in pivotal roles. Popular dancer and actress Bhavna Pani will also appear in an item dance for the film. Her last appearance in Malayalam was "Vettam".
The cinematography of the film is handled by Divakar Mani and the editing is done by Aiyappan Nair MS. This upcoming entertainer is produced by Jaison Pulikoottil under the banner of Full House Entertainment.
