Priya Prakash Varrier's much-awaited movie Oru Adaar Love is finally getting ready to hit the screens. The movie will not just release in Malayalam, but in other South Indian languages. Notably in Kannada where the dubbing of non-Kannada content was virtually banned for decades.
"This will be the first Malayalam film to be officially dubbed and released in Kannada, along with other languages, and we have registered the film's title with the film chamber. We are planning to present the film to the censor board in Karnataka by the end of January," director Omar Lulu is quoted as saying by The New Indian Express. The movie has been titled Kirik Love Story and will release on 14 February.
On asking about the reason behind dubbing Oru Adaar Love in Kannada, the director stated that it is an international film and has the universal content. The team will be in Bengaluru closer to the release date.
Sandalwood has been against the dubbing in any form into the Kannada language. The unofficial ban was lifted in 2012 after the intervention of CCI (Competition Commission of India). In the last few years, a couple of movies of Tamil star Ajith Kumar have been dubbed into Kannada.
Coming back to Oru Adaar Love, it is a romantic movie which garnered national and international limelight after Priya Prakash's wink stole the hearts of millions of youths. The song can be watched below:
