Many in Kollywood were surprised when actress Trisha backed out from the Simbu movie directed by Selvaraghavan. Since then cine-buffs were waiting to see who will replace Trisha for the upcoming film.
Now rumours are doing rounds that Selvaraghavan has approached Priya Anand to play the lead and apparently the actress was more than happy to be a part of the project. However, some sources claim that Priya will be part of a movie that stars Simbu, but not the Selvaraghavan project.
Priya is currently basking in the success of "Vai Raja Vai" directed by Aishwarya R Dhanush. The movie had garnered some overwhelming response and the actress was appreciated for her performance.
The actress is also awaiting release of two more Tamil films that includes "Koottathil Oruvan", directed by Ashok Selvan, and an untitled Anand Shankar movie.
Meanwhile, industry sources claim that Trisha has opted out of Selvaraghavan's movie as she had committed her dates to Kamal Haasan's upcoming thriller "Ore Iravu" and Sundar C's "Aranmanai 2".
Earlier Simbu, Trisha and Taapsee Pannu had done a photo-shoot for the movie. It was reported that Trisha would be seen in a stylish avatar while Taapsee will play a bold and glamorous role and Simbu will be seen as a gangster.
If Priya joins the project, it would be the first time that she will be working with Simbu and Selvaraghavan. Similarly, Simbu has never worked with the ace film-maker before.
Meanwhile, Priya and Taapsee were recently seen together in "Vai Raja Vai" and it would be interesting to see these two talented actresses together again onscreen.
The upcoming project is touted to be a romantic thriller and its music will be composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
