The internet has now learned that David Cameron is partial to a Pringle or two after a fellow passenger filmed the Tory prime minister tucking into the crisps on a flight from Portugal to the UK. The Old Etonian was apparently videoed by Ashleigh, a 16-year-old who was travelling alongside her boyfriend on the same EasyJet flight as Cameron, as the Conservative returned home from his summer holiday.
The video, which showed the prime minister eating the paprika flavoured variety of the crisps and using his iPad (not at the same time), went viral after Ashleigh posted it to social media site Twitter. With the House of Commons in recess until 7 September, Westminster watchers quickly devoured the snack-sized news.
British politicians have hit headlines recently for similar food related incidents. Notably, Ed Miliband was filmed awkwardly eating a bacon sandwich in the run up the general election. George Osborne posted a picture of himself with a gourmet Byron burger on Twitter as he put the final touches to his 2013 Budget.
As for Cameron, the 48-year-old was snapped by diners at a Nandos in Bristol in 2014. The casually dressed Conservative even posed for a selfie with one exited fan. Meanwhile, Tory defector and Ukips only MP Douglas Carswell is known to be a fan of US fast-food chain McDonalds.
EasyJet told IBTimes UK that the budget airline does not comment on individual passengers. But a spokesperson from Pringles, which is owned by Kelloggs, welcomed the news. They said: Today weve had ringing endorsements from One Directions Louis Tomlinson and Prime Minister David Cameron. From pop stars to politicians, no-one can resist a good Pringle when theyre peckish.
