French carmaker Renault is readying a petrol automatic version of its popular SUV, Duster, for Indian market. The Duster petrol CVT is expected to enter the market soon. Ahead of its launch, more details on engine and prices of the upcoming variant have emerged online.
According to ZigWheel, the Duster petrol CVT will get a 1.5 litre mill under the hood. Although the Duster petrol versions come with 1.6 litre 4-cylinder unit, Renault might have opted for a downsized engine for the CVT version to keep the price in check. The 1.5 litre engine is likely to be the same that does duty in Nissan Sunny, which can churn out 105bhp of power at 5600rpm and peak torque of 142Nm at 4000rpm.
The Duster petrol CVT is expected to be offered on RXS trim positioned between RXL and RXZ. The new RXS trim is likely to cost around Rs 10.3 lakh (ex-showroom). There will be no changes in terms of design and styling, except few additions like new exterior colour option– Fiery Red.
Other features expected include 16-inch gunmetal alloy wheels, 7 7-inch touchscreen, dual airbags, red contrast interiors, Eco mode, and black grille at the front. The Duster is currently offered with five-speed manual, six-speed manual transmissions and AMT (automated manual transmission).
