When "Pretty Little Liars" returns to ABC Family this Tuesday, fans are going to see a different side of Alison.
Alison, who was in prison the last time we saw her, will be released, and the latest promo video shows her urging the media to help find her friends who have been kidnapped by an unknown person, whom we now know as Charles.
Considering Charles is believed to be Alison's elder brother and Jason's twin, does she know anything about the hooded figure? "[Ali] has no clue who this person is," Sasha Pieterse, who plays Alison, told She Knows. However, she added that Charles could be someone even more closer to the Liars than anyone knew, and that he is related to the DiLaurentis.
As for what to expect from Alison in the coming season, Pieterse said fans will see a changed Alison who is genuinely scared for her friends.
"I think everything [Ali]'s doing now is genuine. She's not really manipulating anyone anymore. She's really trying to figure out her demons and what caused her to do things… I honestly do believe she's innocent. I don't think she's A," the actress added.
The upcoming season is definitely one of the darkest "Pretty Little Liars" seasons, and fans will learn more about Charles' identity and why he built the dollhouse as the season progresses. Charles has now in his captivity Mona, Aria, Spencer, Emily and Hanna. But getting hold of the real Alison, who is now out of prison, is Charles' ultimate dream, hinted Pieterse.
However, it is too soon to say if he will succeed in luring Alison into his trap.
Showrunner Marlene King and the rest of the cast and crew of "Pretty Little Liars" have been teasing season 6 as the summer of answers. But the final reveal won't happen until the midseason finale, where we'll find out more about why Charles is so obsessed with the Liars. The second half of the season will see a time jump, following which we'll see how being trapped in Charles' dollhouse has affected the Liars.
Season 6 of "Pretty Little Liars" premieres 2 June on ABC Family.
