Images of the rumoured Microsoft Lumia 940 (aka Talkman) and Lumia 940 XL (aka Cityman) have surfaced online revealing key features of the devices.
Twitter sensation Evan Blass (@evleaks) has posted the alleged promotional snapshots of the upcoming Microsoft devices. The graphic photo shows Lumia 940 XL on top of smaller Lumia 940. On the front-side, we can't spot any difference in terms of design, but things change on the rear-side and on the edge.
Lumia 940 XL flaunts three-tightly placed rockers on the edge with the possible combination of volume up, power (centre) and volume down buttons and the one placed little below them is likely to be the dedicated camera button. On the back, we see the circular camera module with triple-LED flash (probably Xenon based) with bump and trademark Windows logo below it. We also see single-grill speakers on top and the bottom, and also speaker mesh on the left side. It looks like Microsoft wants to enhance music-hearing experience with multiple loud speakers.
On the other hand, Lumia 940 houses three buttons with an elongated key probably the integrated volume up and down controllers, a power switch in the middle and a dedicated camera toggle.
Lumia 940 too packs a ring shaped snapper, but the triple-LED flash is placed out-side the silver-hued camera module. The single-grill speakers we see in XL series have been left out in the smaller model, and have instead been replaced with mics on the top and the bottom. The company has retained loud-speaker mesh, but switched its place to the top right corner.
Lumia 940 is said to feature 5.2-inch WQHD (2560x1440p) display and run on the Windows 10 OS backed by Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core SoC (System on Chip), 3GB RAM and a 3000 mAh battery.
On the other hand, its phablet sibling, Lumia 940 XL is expected to flaunt bigger 5.7-inch WQHD display and will be powered by the Snapdragon 810 series Octa-core SoC (System on Chip), 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and a high capacity 3300 mAh battery.
Both the new devices will boast state-of-art camera features. They come equipped with 20mp PureView camera on the back and a 5mp wide-angle snapper on the front.
Word on the street is that Microsoft had reportedly incorporated more advanced Iris-scanner based bio-metric technology, which is said to more superior to finger-print sensor.
Microsoft is expected to pull the wraps off the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL in October at a special launch event in US.
